The Peace Revolution Project was started in 2008 when someone pretty cool decided to start talking to the world about what he believed: Inner Peace can lead to World Peace, if people could just learn how to find inner peace for themselves! He got together with some other people who believed the same thing... and, well, here we are!

So... we have invented what we think is a chill way to have some fun with inner peace... aka meditation. We taped some meditation experts and you can check them out on MP3s; you can learn more about what inner peace really is; you can take a few fun quizzes; and then, if you want to get serious, you can do an on-line self-development program. You can even post questions on our Peace Wall for our online community. So hang back, and cruise the site. It's the best place to be.

Peace Gathering

OPS Name

Peace Gathering

Why this OPS?

In honour of the people that lost their lives in the Montreal Massacre, which took place 20 years ago December 6th. This event has really resonated with me - not just because I am female and studied science when I was at university - but because I am a human and it is devastating to me that our extreme lack of relating to one another can have this result. In this sense, we could hold a peace vigil on any day of the year because the list of shocking events such as this one is a long one.

Objectives

My hope is that each person comes away from the Gathering with a little more understanding for a position that is different from their own and the knowledge that, if we want to survive and thrive as a human race, we need to have respect and compassion for each other.

How to implement it?

I will host the gathering outside in nature - to walk together in the woods or by the lake and honour those that lost their lives that day (and continue to lose their lives in other conflicts) by sharing our thoughts, feelings, etc. about peace.

Benefits

I believe that the benefits from this Special OPS will be that the understanding that each person takes away from the Gathering will build and bring about more understanding within their daily relationships.

Oh you have already picked a special ops. I guess I was way too late with my Private message. did you do the peace gathering on December 6? How did it go? I have to confess that even though I'm very near Canada in Vermont, I am not familiar with the incident you described. What happened? Looking forward to hearing about it. Peace, Mary K

This gathering was held on December 6 2009. We had a fairly small group (just 3 of us) but I feel that each person made a special contribution and enjoyed sharing our thoughts together. We lit a candle and together shielded it from the fierce winter winds! Three readings were recited including Thich Nhat Hahn, his Holiness the Dalai Lama and Shel Silverstein.
